CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Vancouver Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa left Saturday's 5-4 overtime victory over the Calgary Flames in the first period with a left knee injury.
Bieksa attempted to check the 6-3, 230-pound Wayne Primeau against the boards, but the blue-liner quickly fell to the ice.
He did not return and will be re-evaluated on Sunday.
The Ontario native missed 46 games last season after suffering a lacerated right calf when hit by the skate of Nashville's Vernon Fiddler during a game on November 1. He was placed on injured reserve a day later.
Held without a point thus far this season, Bieksa recorded two goals, 10 assists and 90 penalty minutes last campaign.
A fifth-round pick of Vancouver in 2001, Bieksa has 14 goals and 46 assists in 156 career games.
