Sabres C Hecht undergoes finger surgery
Oct 15, 2008 - 12:50 AM BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The Buffalo Sabres will be without Jochen Hecht for a few weeks as the center underwent finger surgery Tuesday after being injured in Monday's 7-1 victory over the New York Islanders.Prior to getting hurt, Hecht opened the scoring in the rout with a power-play goal at 10:05 of the first period. He took seven shifts totaling 5 minutes, 39 seconds before leaving.
The goal was the first point in two games this season for Hecht, who was a second-round pick of St. Louis in 1995. The 31-year-old German has recorded 133 tallies and 211 assists in 550 career games with the Blues, Edmonton Oilers and Sabres.
