DETROIT (Ticker) -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brad Stuart left Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks with 7:20 remaining in the third period with a knee injury.

Stuart, who was hit by a wrist shot from Vancouver blue-liner Sami Salo, attempted to stay in the play until goaltender Chris Osgood was able to freeze the puck. After the whistle, he slowly got to his feet and skated off the ice and retreated to the locker room.

He did not return and will be re-evaluated on Friday.

"(Stuart) got a shot on the knee, on the side of the knee," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "No one told me anything about any serious damage, but I haven't talked to (the trainers) yet."

The third overall pick by the San Jose Sharks in 1998, Stuart logged 21 minutes, 30 seconds of ice time on Thursday before leaving the contest.
