NHL honors Ducks top-line

Nov 3, 2008 - 9:15 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The NHL on Monday named Anaheim Ducks forwards Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and Teemu Selanne the recipients of the "First Star" of the week award.

Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas and Philadelphia Flyers left wing Simon Gagne were also honored.

The Ducks' top-line combined for 10 goals and 29 points last week, helping the team post a 3-0-1 record over that stretch.

Getzlaf led all scorers with 10 points on the week, highlighted by his career-high five assists during a 5-4 overtime victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.

Perry had a pair of goals and seven assists in the four games. He notched a goal and four assists in Friday's 7-6 shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Selanne scored six goals and nine points last week, including his 21st career hat trick Wednesday. He has more hat tricks than any other active player and is now tied with Hall of Famer Guy Lafleur for 20th all-time with 560 goals.

Thomas posted a 3-1-0 record with a 0.99 goals-against average and .970 save percentage on the week. He started the week with back-to-back 1-0 shutout wins, making 27 saves against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday and 31 more against the Canucks the next day.

Gagne tallied three goals and eight points over three contests. He had two goals and two assists during Tuesday's 7-0 rout of the Atlanta Thrashers.
