Thrashers recall D Valabik
Nov 7, 2008 - 12:37 AM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday recalled defenseman Boris Valabik from Chicago of the American Hockey League. The move was made due to an injury to fellow blue-liner Mathieu Schneider, who is sidelined with a hip flexor. The 39-year-old, who has notched a goal and three assists in 12 games this season, missed Thursday's contest against the New York Islanders and is not expected to travel with the Thrashers for their two-game road trip to Buffalo and Carolina this weekend.
Drafted 10th overall in 2004, Valabik has registered one goal, two assists and 21 penalty minutes in 11 games with the Wolves this season.
The 6-7, 235-pound Valabik made his NHL debut last campaign, recording 42 penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating in seven contests. The 22-year-old Slovakian spent the majority of 2007-08 with Chicago, notching one goal, seven assists and 229 penalty minutes in 58 regular-season games and adding three tallies and four points in 24 playoff contests as the Wolves captured the Calder Cup championship.
