Devils place D Martin on injured reserve

Nov 10, 2008 - 11:52 PM NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Devils on Monday added another member to their already lengthy injured list.

Defenseman Paul Martin, who has missed the last four games, was placed on injured reserve with upper back soreness.

He is the sixth New Jersey player to go on the injured list, joining goaltender Martin Brodeur, centers Brian Rolston and Bobby Holik, right wing Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond and defenseman Andy Greene.

Martin has four assists in 10 games this season after leading all New Jersey defensemen in scoring last season with 32 points.

Brodeur underwent surgery last week to repair torn biceps and is expected to miss three to four months.

The Devils also announced Monday that right wing Matt Halischuk, who plays for Lowell of the American Hockey League, will miss three to four weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.
