Flyers C Briere injured in win over Islanders
Nov 11, 2008 - 11:31 PM UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- Philadelphia Flyers center Daniel Briere left Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders in the second period with an undisclosed lower body injury.Briere scored the first goal in the Flyers' 3-1 victory with 6:40 remaining in the second, but did return after putting Philadelphia ahead.
"It flared up during the game," said Briere, who has scored in two straight contests after missing six due to abdominal surgery. "At this point, I am a little on the cautious side."
The Flyers did not provide an update on Briere's condition. They will return to the ice on Thursday at the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Briere did say, however, the injury is not related to his recent surgery.
"It had nothing to do with the surgery that I had previously," he said. "It was something that popped up and I don't want to say anything more about it."
In eight games this season, Briere has recorded five goals and four assists.
No one has shouted yet.
