Ducks recall D Festerling, RW Ryan

Nov 15, 2008 - 11:40 PM ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks added reinforcements Saturday, recalling defenseman Brett Festerling and right wing Bobby Ryan from Iowa of the American Hockey League.

Festerling's promotion comes after the Ducks learned fellow blue-liner Francois Beauchemin would miss six months with a torn ACL, which he suffered in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators. The 22-year-old native of Prince George, British Columbia has yet to appear in an NHL game.

Signed as a free agent in September 2005, the 6-1, 214-pound Festerling has recorded five assists and 14 penalty minutes in 14 games with Iowa this season.

Drafted second overall in 2005, Ryan has registered nine goals and 10 assists in 14 contests with the Chops this campaign. The 21-year-old made his NHL debut in 2007-08, notching five tallies and 10 points in 23 games.

The 6-2, 208-pound native of Cherry Hill, New Jersey also appeared in two contests for Anaheim last postseason, collecting two penalty minutes in the Western Conference quarterfinals against the Dallas Stars.
