DETROIT (Ticker) -- Detroit Red Wings right wing Daniel Cleary is expected to miss two to three weeks with an eye infection, according to a published report.

Cleary, 29, has missed three consecutive games and has not practiced in over a week.

"He's not ready to go," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock told the Detroit Free Press on Sunday. "They're working with his eye. I guess it's some sort of scratch. What they did for him originally kind of worked in the wrong way, so it's taking more time than they expected."

A native of Newfoundland, Cleary has two goals and four assists in 13 games this season.

The 13th overall selection in 1997 by Chicago, Cleary has 86 goals and 129 assists in 553 games with the Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Phoenix Coyotes and Red Wings.

Detroit will vie for its third consecutive victory when it hosts Edmonton on Monday at Joe Louis Arena.
