NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Nashville Predators captain Jason Arnott left Monday's 4-1 loss against the San Jose Sharks in the first period.

The center skated toward goaltender Brian Boucher and lost his footing while being hit from behind by Joe Pavelski. Arnott then slid head-first into the net where he appeared to hit his head.

Arnott was carried off on a stretcher following a short delay with two seconds remaining in the session and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The team later announced he had feeling in all his extremities. He was released from the hospital and sent home prior to the game's conclusion.

"I thought the (Pavelski) was heading to the net, and it's just like a hit from behind, the danger is there," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "I expect him to be ready against Tampa Bay on Friday with what the doctors and trainers have told me."

The 32-year-old has eight goals and seven assists in 15 games this season.

A first-round pick in 1993 by the Edmonton Oilers, Arnott has 339 goals and 446 assists in 986 contests with the Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars and Predators.
