DETROIT (Ticker) -- Edmonton Oilers right wing Fernando Pisani left in the third period of Monday's 4-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings with a broken ankle.

Pisani crashed awkwardly into the boards after trying to take possession of a loose puck and was helped off the ice in obvious pain.

"Broken ankle," Edmonton coach Craig MacTavish said. "Fernando's done for a while."

The 31-year-old has two goals and four assists in 16 games this season. An eighth-round pick in 1996 by Edmonton, Pisani has 71 goals and 65 assists in 340 contests over his six-year career with the Oilers.
