Senators lose Fisher and Neil to injuries
Nov 19, 2008 - 6:16 PM TORONTO (Ticker) -- The struggling Ottawa Senators received more bad news. The club learned on Wednesday that it will be without center Mike Fisher and right wing Chris Neil for at least the next few weeks, according to TSN of Canada.
Fisher strained ligaments in his right knee during Monday's shootout loss to the Rangers and Neil will need surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, suffered during Saturday's loss to the New York Islanders.
"It's disappointing," said the hard-nosed Neil, who leads the club with 50 penalty minutes. "(But the) bottom line is, it's early in the season. I can get it done with and get back in the lineup."
Fisher has two goals and six points in 16 contests for the Senators, who are winless (0-4-1) over their last five games and in last place in the Eastern Conference.
No one has shouted yet.
