MONTREAL 3, OTTAWA 2 (SO)

OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Alex Tanguay scored in the fourth round of the shootout as the Montreal Canadiens handed the Ottawa Senators their sixth straight loss with a 3-2 triumph in a battle of Northeast Division rivals.
Captain Saku Koivu and defenseman Andrei Markov tallied in regulation, Sergei Kostitsyn notched a pair of assists and Carey Price made 23 saves for Montreal, which improved to 3-4-1 in its last eight games.
Dany Heatley and Nick Foligno scored, defenseman Alexandre Picard recorded two assists and Alex Auld turned aside 19 shots for Ottawa, which dropped its second straight contest in a shootout and fell to 0-4-2 in its last six games.
In the fourth round of the bonus format, Tanguay backhanded the puck between the pads of Auld to end the contest.
VANCOUVER 3, MINNESOTA 2

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- Daniel Sedin snapped a tie midway through the third period as the Vancouver Canucks skated to a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild.
Pavol Demitra recorded a goal and an assist, Steve Bernier also scored and Henrik Sedin notched two assists for the Canucks, who have won two straight and six of eight.
Curtis Sanford made 28 saves in his second start of the season in place of captain Roberto Luongo, who had started 14 consecutive contests. Sanford had not won since December 12, 2007 at Anaheim - a span of 12 games.
Captain Mikko Koivu netted both goals for the Wild, who had their three-game winning streak halted.
CALGARY 1, COLORADO 0

DENVER (Ticker) -- Daymond Langkow scored midway through the second period and Miikka Kiprusoff made 18 saves as the Calgary Flames edged the Colorado Avalanche, 1-0.
Kiprusoff turned aside seven shots in the first period, five in the second and six in the third en route to his second shutout of the season and 28th career. The Finn also blanked Colorado, 3-0, on October 28.
Defenseman Mark Giordano and captain Jarome Iginla each recorded an assist for Calgary, which has won two straight games and three of four.
Peter Budaj made 32 saves for the Avalanche, who fell for the second straight time after winning three consecutive contests.
DETROIT 4, EDMONTON 3

EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- Jiri Hudler netted a pair of goals as the Detroit Red Wings scored three times in the first period and held on for a 4-3 triumph over the Edmonton Oilers.
Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Kopecky both scored on the power play and defensemen Brian Rafalski and Nicklas Lidstrom notched two assists apiece as Detroit improved to 6-0-1 in its last seven games.
In his first start in a week, Chris Osgood made 31 saves en route to his 371st career win, moving him within one of tying Andy Moog for 13th place on the all-time list.
Andrew Cogliano scored and blue-liners Lubomir Visnovsky and Sheldon Souray tallied 21 seconds apart in the third period for Edmonton, which fell to 1-3-1 in its last five games.
NEW JERSEY 3, FLORIDA 1

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta each recorded a goal and an assist as the New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-1 triumph over the Florida Panthers.
Defenseman Paul Martin also scored and Dainius Zubrus notched a pair of assists for New Jersey, which has won two straight following a four-game slide.
Michael Frolik netted his first career goal for the Panthers, who had won three of four.
PITTSBURGH 3, ATLANTA 2

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Petr Sykora's power-play goal with 2:40 remaining in the third period snapped a tie and lifted the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.
Captain Sidney Crosby recorded a goal and two assists and Miroslav Satan also scored for the Penguins, who improved to 7-0-1 in their last eight games.
Evgeni Malkin notched his league-leading 31st point with an assist and Dany Sabourin made 21 saves for Pittsburgh, which has won four straight on the road.
Vyacheslav Kozlov extended his goal-scoring streak to three games and Jim Slater also tallied for the Thrashers, who had their three-game home winning streak snapped.
CHICAGO 6, DALLAS 3

DALLAS (Ticker) -- Patrick Kane scored twice and rookie Kris Versteeg added a goal and two assists as the Chicago Blackhawks rolled past the Dallas Stars, 6-3.
Defenseman Brian Campbell and Ben Eager each netted a goal and set up another, Martin Havlat also scored and Troy Brouwer notched a pair of assists for the Blackhawks, who won their second consecutive game after losing three straight.
Nikolai Khabibulin turned aside 31 shots for Chicago, which recorded just its second victory in 13 visits to Dallas.
Mike Modano registered a goal and an assist while captain Brenden Morrow and James Neal also scored for the Stars, who have dropped six of their last eight.
LOS ANGELES 5, WASHINGTON 2

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Captain Dustin Brown scored a power-play goal and added an assist and Erik Ersberg made 19 saves as the Los Angeles Kings claimed a 5-2 victory over the Washington Capitals.
Rookie defenseman Drew Doughty and Patrick O'Sullivan also tallied for the Kings, who bounced back after dropping each of their previous two games.
Ersberg, who was making his seventh consecutive start after beginning the season as Los Angeles' backup goaltender, made 11 of his saves in the third period.
Anze Kopitar and Michal Handzus, who also notched an assist, scored empty-net goals in the final minute to seal the victory.
Nicklas Backstrom scored on a power play and Brooks Laich added his fifth tally of the campaign for the Capitals, who suffered their first regulation loss since dropping a 5-0 decision to the Buffalo Sabres on November 1.
