ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers lost more than a game on Thursday.
Center Todd White suffered an apparent concussion in the opening minute of the third period of Atlanta's 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins and missed the remainder of the contest.
On his first shift of the session, White was checked hard by Pittsburgh defenseman Kris Letang and crashed into the boards in the left corner of the offensive zone. The 33-year-old got to his feet on his own but appeared extremely wobbly and returned to the locker room.
Prior to the injury, White registered one shot on goal and posted a minus-1 rating in 12 minutes, 59 seconds of ice time.
Signed to a four-year contract in July 2007, White has recorded four goals and a team-leading 11 assists in 18 games this season. The veteran has collected 115 tallies and 295 points in 506 career contests with the Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild and Thrashers.
