Red Wings assign RW McCarty to Grand Rapids

DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday assigned right wing Darren McCarty to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League.

McCarty, 36, has one goal in 13 games with the Red Wings this season.

In a corresponding move, the Red Wings recalled center Darren Helm from Grand Rapids.

Helm has played in 16 games with Grand Rapids and has five goals and 18 points .
