Maple Leafs D Schenn, LW Hagman leave game
Dec 7, 2008 - 4:01 AM TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs may have lost more than a hockey game on Saturday.Toronto coach Ron Wilson announced after the Maple Leafs' 2-1 loss to the Washington Capitals that rookie defenseman Luke Schenn may be sidelined for at least two weeks with a lower body injury.
In addition, Wilson also noted that left wing Niklas Hagman was injured during the game.
"We're looking at two weeks with a lower body injury," Wilson said of Schenn, who has recorded two assists and 26 penalty minutes in 27 games this season after being drafted fifth overall in June.
"Beyond that, we have to wait until (Sunday) just to see. We'll let things simmer down. It's not anything major, but it's at least two weeks. We'll have to bring up someone from the Marlies (of the American Hockey League)."
Regarding Hagman, Wilson had a more positive prognosis.
"Hagman took a knee in the head, felt a little groggy, and that happened early in the game," Wilson said. "He sat there for a while, he just didn't feel well. By the end of the night, sitting in the back, he felt much better.
"If he comes to practice (on Sunday) and feels a little better, he'll get clearance to play. If not, we'll have to go to the Marlies for a forward as well."
Hagman has registered eight goals and 11 assists in 27 games this season.
