Report: Red Wings G Osgood nursing groin injury

Dec 18, 2008 - 12:56 AM DETROIT (Ticker) -- Detroit Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood missed Wednesday's practice with a groin injury, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock told the newspaper that he didn't believe the injury was serious, but confirmed that Ty Conklin will be the starter on Thursday against the San Jose Sharks.

"He's got tightness in his groin," Babcock told the Detroit Free Press. "Now I'm going to say to you it's not a big deal and then you're going to say to me, that usually means 10 days, and I'm going to say, "Yeah, you're right.' I don't have any idea. But anytime it's with a goalie, it's a concern."

Osgood is 12-2-4 with a 3.19 goals-against average and .876 save percentage this season.
