Ducks RW Selanne leaves game with cut leg

Dec 20, 2008 - 5:31 AM EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- Anaheim Ducks right wing Teemu Selanne left Friday's 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in the first period with a laceration on his left thigh.

Playing in his 1,100th career game, Selanne did not last long. The 38-year-old Finn was checked along the boards by Oilers defenseman Denis Grebeshkov and got up with a noticeable cut on his leg early in the contest.

Selanne was helped off the ice and did not return. He received eight stitches in the locker room and will return to Anaheim on Saturday to be evaluated.

A 15-year veteran, Selanne leads the Ducks with 14 goals and ranks third on the club with 27 points this season.
