Senators RW Alfredsson leaves game
Dec 21, 2008 - 7:11 AM OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson left Saturday's 5-4 overtime victory over the Dallas Stars in the second period with an undisclosed injury and did not return.The right wing attempted to gain possession of a loose puck along the left boards, but suffered the injury after being checked by Dallas' Jere Lehtinen. Alfredsson was helped off the ice in obvious pain.
"It's in the upper body," Alfredsson said. "We'll come in (Sunday) and evaluate it then. I don't think it's serious."
A native of Gothenburg, Sweden, Alfredsson opened the scoring 87 seconds into the first period with his ninth goal of the season.
The 36-year-old also has 18 assists in 30 games this season. Alfredsson has collected 340 goals and 534 assists over 883 contests with the Senators in his 13-year career.
