Ducks RW Selanne out 4-6 weeks
Dec 21, 2008 - 5:55 AM ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks received some bad news on Saturday. An MRI revealed that Teemu Selanne suffered a cut in his left quad muscle and is expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks.
Playing in his 1,100th career game, Selanne left Friday's 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in the first period.
The 38-year-old Finn was checked along the boards by Oilers defenseman Denis Grebeshkov and got up with a noticeable cut on his leg early in the contest.
"I knew right away that I got cut," Selanne said. "It was scary how much blood was coming out. It was all over. You couldn't even stop it."
A 15-year veteran, Selanne leads the Ducks with 14 goals and ranks third on the club with 27 points this season.
