Canadiens G Price returns vs. Hurricanes
Dec 22, 2008 - 4:19 AM MONTREAL (Ticker) -- After missing his team's last six games with the flu and a lower body injury, Carey Price finished with 24 saves in the Montreal Canadiens' 3-2 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.Just 1:43 into overtime, Eric Staal wristed a shot from the slot which trickled past Price and toward the goal line. Tuomo Ruutu alertly located the puck and tapped it into the goal before he was sent crashing into the net as well.
While Price wasn't thrilled with the final result, the 21-year-old netminder was pleased with his performance.
"I felt a bit rusty at the start, but as the game went on, I started to feel a little bit more comfortable," Price said. "Even toward the end, I didn't feel the same way I did before the injury. I only had one (practice) skate with the team, so it's kind of hard to jump right back into it."
In Price's absence, backup Jaroslav Halak posted a 3-3-0 record for the Canadiens.
