Stars LW Eriksson receives weekly honor
Dec 22, 2008 - 6:47 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Dallas Stars left wing Loui Eriksson on Monday was named the NHL's "First Star" of the week.Eriksson scored a league-leading six goals in three games last week, helping the Stars earn five of six available points.
He recorded both goals in a 2-1 overtime victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday, then notched his first career hat trick in a 6-5 shootout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday.
Playing in his third season, Eriksson has a team-high 18 goals for the Stars.
Philadelphia Flyers center Jeff Carter, who tallied four goals and three assists in four games last week, was named the "Second Star."
The "Third Star" went to New Jersey Devils left wing Patrik Elias, who tallied three goals and five assists last week, extending his point streak to 10 games.
