Flyers D Timonen and RW Hartnell injured in loss

Dec 27, 2008 - 6:17 PM COLUMBUS (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Flyers' six-game road trip is off to a rough start.

Both defenseman Kimmo Timonen and right wing Scott Hartnell suffered injuries while trying to block shots in Friday's 5-1 loss in Chicago.

Timonen chipped a bone in his right ankle and is expected to miss at least a week, according to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren. Hartnell has a broken big toe that and is considered day-to-day, though it is unlikely he will play Saturday at Columbus.

The team's top defenseman, Timonen has three goals and 24 points this season. Hartnell has been playing well of late, registering 14 of his 27 points this season in December.
