Red Wings D Lidstrom out vs. Avalanche

Dec 27, 2008 - 11:15 PM DENVER (Ticker) -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom has been ruled out of Saturday's contest against the Colorado Avalanche.

The six-time Norris Trophy winner left Friday's 3-2 loss against the Nashville Predators in the second period with a lower body injury. Lidstrom was on the receiving end of a shot by Nashville defenseman Shea Weber in the first period.

"It is certainly going to hurt any lineup," Detroit goalie Ty Conklin said of Lidstrom's absence. "You got the best defenseman in the world - your team is going to notice him."

Lidstrom, 38, recorded five goals and 19 assists in 34 games this season.
