Canadiens recall four

Jan 1, 2009 - 11:05 PM MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens added reinforcements Thursday, recalling goaltender Marc Denis, defenseman Yannick Weber, left wing Max Pacioretty and center Kyle Chipchura from Hamilton of the American Hockey League.

Signed as a free agent on July 3, Denis was recalled earlier this season but has yet to make his debut with the Canadiens. The 31-year-old native of Montreal has posted a 14-7-0 record with three shutouts and a 2.60 goals-against average in 33 games with Hamilton this campaign.

Drafted 25th overall by Colorado in 1995, Denis is 112-179-31 with 16 shutouts and a 3.02 GAA in 348 career NHL contests with the Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets and Tampa Bay Lightning.

A third-round pick in 2007, the 20-year-old Weber has recorded eight goals and 10 assists in 31 games with Hamilton this season. The 5-11, 194-pound native of Switzerland also has collected 18 penalty minutes and a plus-6 rating for the Bulldogs.

Pacioretty, 20, was selected 22nd overall in the 2007 draft. Currently in his first professional season after spending 2007-08 at the University of Michigan, the 6-2, 203-pound native of New Canaan, Connecticut has registered five goals and 17 assists in 31 games with Hamilton this campaign.

Drafted 18th overall in 2004, Chipchura appeared in one game with Montreal earlier this season without notching a point. The 22-year-old from Westlock, Alberta, who amassed four goals and seven assists with the Canadiens as a rookie last campaign, has scored 10 goals and 21 points in 25 contests with the Bulldogs.
