Thrashers assign Bogosian to minors

Jan 4, 2009 - 12:30 AM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday assigned defenseman Zach Bogosian to Chicago of the American Hockey League for conditioning purposes.

Selected third overall in last June's draft, the 18-year-old Bogosian has collected 13 penalty minutes and a minus-3 rating in nine games for the Thrashers this season.

The 6-2, 215-pound native of Massena, New York also missed 28 contests with a broken leg.

The Thrashers on Saturday also assigned blue-liner Scott Lehman to the Wolves.

A third-round pick in 2004, Lehman - who turns 23 on Monday - made his NHL debut with Atlanta this season, appearing in the club's 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh on December 18. The 6-1, 194-pounder saw just 3 minutes, 3 seconds of action in the game before suffering an upper body injury and missing the Thrashers' next eight contests.

In 21 games with Chicago earlier this campaign, the native of Windsor, Ontario registered two goals, two assists and 34 penalty minutes.
