Ducks RW Perry suspended four games
Jan 3, 2009 - 11:36 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Corey Perry's actions on Friday earned him an unexpected vacation.The NHL on Saturday suspended Perry for four games as a result of his elbowing infraction on Philadelphia's Claude Giroux in the Flyers' 5-4 shootout victory at the Honda Center.
Perry, who recorded a goal and an assist in the loss, received a double-minor for high-sticking on the play 5 1/2 minutes into the third period. After remaining on the ice for several moments, Giroux regained his senses and remained in the game.
The 23-year-old Perry, who will forfeit $114,516.12 as a result of the incident, will be eligible to return to Anaheim's lineup on January 11 against New Jersey.
Drafted 28th overall in 2003, Perry has registered 10 goals and 24 assists in 39 games this season. The 6-3, 209-pound native of Peterborough, Ontario has collected 69 tallies and 157 points in 247 career contests.
