Leafs recall C Newbury
Jan 4, 2009 - 1:26 AM TORONTO (Ticker) -- Prior to their game against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, the Toronto Maple Leafs recalled center Kris Newbury from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.The 26-year-old Newbury has appeared in 21 games with the Marlies this season, recording six goals and 18 assists. A native of Brampton, Ontario, he has notched three tallies and six points in 43 career contests with the Maple Leafs.
A fifth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2002, the 5-10, 200-pound Newbury was signed by the Maple Leafs as a free agent in October 2003.
