Leafs send C Newbury to AHL
Jan 7, 2009 - 12:43 AM TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday assigned center Kris Newbury to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.The 26-year-old Newbury was recalled by the Maple Leafs on Saturday and appeared in their 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators that night, recording two penalty minutes without notching a point. In 21 games with the Marlies this season, the 5-10, 205-pound native of Brampton, Ontario has registered six goals and 18 assists.
A fifth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in 2002, Newbury has collected three goals and three assists in 44 career NHL games - all with the Maple Leafs.
