Jackets recall LW Filatov from AHL

Jan 7, 2009 - 3:01 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- One day after being sent to the minors, Nikita Filatov is back in the NHL.

Filatov was recalled from the Syracuse Crunch by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after being assigned to their American Hockey League affiliate.

The sixth overall selection in last June's draft, the 18-year-old left wing was assigned to Syracuse on Tuesday but did not play in the Crunch's 3-1 victory over the Lake Erie Monsters.

In four games with the Blue Jackets earlier this season, the 6-foot, 172-pounder scored one goal.

Filatov also has notched seven goals and 10 assists in 23 contests with Syracuse this campaign.

A native of Moscow, Filatov represented Russia in the recently completed World Junior Championship. He recorded a tournament-high eight goals and three assists in seven games while serving as captain for his native country, which captured the bronze medal with a victory over Slovakia on Monday.
