Flames recall C Backlund

Jan 8, 2009 - 11:36 PM CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Calgary Flames on Thursday recalled center Mikael Backlund from Sweden's junior national team.

Backlund, who helped Sweden win the silver medal at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championship on Monday, was named as one his team's top three players in the tournament.

Drafted 24th overall by Calgary in 2007, the 19-year-old Backlund finished with five goals and two assists in six games at the World Juniors.
