Blue Jackets place G Leclaire on IR

Jan 8, 2009 - 11:34 PM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday placed goaltender Pascal Leclaire on injured reserve.

Leclaire, who has not played since December 18, will be sidelined at least one more week with an ankle injury.

Drafted eighth overall in 2001, the 26-year-old is 4-6-1 with a 3.83 goals-against average in 12 games this season. In 125 career contests, Leclaire owns a 45-55-12 record with 10 shutouts and a 2.82 GAA.

In a corresponding move, Columbus recalled netminder Dan LaCosta from Syracuse of the American Hockey League.

LaCosta, who was a third-round pick in 2004, made one appearance with the Blue Jackets earlier this season, allowing two goals on 17 shots in relief of Fredrik Norrena in a 6-3 loss at Nashville on October 18. The 22-year-old made his NHL debut last campaign, also in relief.

In 28 games with the Crunch this season, LaCosta has posted a 12-11-2 record with a 2.72 GAA and one shutout.
