Bruins LW Sturm has successful surgery
Jan 14, 2009 - 12:36 AM BOSTON (Ticker) -- Boston Bruins left wing Marco Sturm underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair his meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.The surgery, which was performed by Dr. Peter Asnis and Dr. Thomas Gill at Mass General Hospital, will force Sturm to miss the remainder of the season.
A native of Dingolfing, Germany, Sturm has recorded seven goals and six assists in 19 games this season for the Bruins. The 30-year-old sustained the injury in Boston's 8-5 triumph over the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 18.
Drafted 21st overall by San Jose in 1996, Sturm has collected 212 goals and 217 assists in 779 games with the Sharks and Bruins over his 11-year career.
