Bruins recall C Sobotka
Jan 14, 2009 - 11:22 PM BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins made a pair of moves Wednesday, recalling center Vladimir Sobotka from Providence and assigning right wing Martins Karsums to their American Hockey League affiliate.The 21-year-old Sobotka appeared in 15 games with the Bruins earlier this season, recording one goal and one assist. Selected in the fourth round of the 2005 draft, the 5-10, 183-pound Czech also has notched 11 tallies and 23 points in 19 contests with Providence.
In three games with Boston this campaign, his first in the NHL, the 5-10, 198-pound Karsums registered one assist. The 22-year-old Latvian, who was a second-round pick in 2004, currently leads Providence with 16 goals and 23 assists in 38 contests.
Karsums will play for Planet USA in the AHL All-Star Classic on January 26.
