Flyers D Timonen injured
Jan 16, 2009 - 4:58 AM TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen left Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first period after being hit in the face with the puck and did not return.At 10:10 of the opening session, Flyers captain Mike Richards' shot from the high slot deflected off a stick and caught the 33-year-old Timonen in the face.
Bleeding profusely from his upper lip, Timonen immediately skated toward the bench and headed to the locker room.
In 43 games this season, the 33-year-old Timonen has recorded three goals and 25 assists.
