Predators send D Sulzer to minors

Jan 17, 2009 - 11:47 PM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- In anticipation of All-Star Shea Weber's return, the Nashville Predators on Saturday assigned fellow defenseman Alexander Sulzer to Milwaukee of the American Hockey League.

The 24-year-old Sulzer made his NHL debut for the Predators in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens but was kept off the scoresheet. Selected in the third round of the 2003 draft, the 6-1, 207-pound German has recorded seven goals, 22 assists and 34 penalty minutes in 39 games with Milwaukee this season.

Weber is expected to be back in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Atlanta Thrashers after missing Thursday's loss with a foot injury. The 23-year-old native of Sicamous, British Columbia has registered 13 goals and 18 assists in 43 contests this season.
