Red Wings C Franzen injured

Jan 18, 2009 - 7:56 AM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- Detroit Red Wings right wing Johan Franzen left Saturday's 6-5 loss to the San Jose Sharks after two periods with a lower body injury.

Franzen collided with Sharks center Joe Thornton at the end of the middle session and did not return for the third. Before suffering the injury, the Swede scored his 21st goal of the season at 4:31 of the second.

On pace for the best campaign of his career, the 29-year-old Franzen has recorded 32 points in 40 games.
