Red Wings C Datsyuk named NHL's 'First Star'

Jan 19, 2009 - 6:31 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Detroit Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk was named the NHL's "First Star" of the week Monday after recording seven points in four games.

Detroit's leading scorer with 54 points, Datsyuk recorded a goal and six assists in a 2-1-1 week for the Red Wings to league all players in scoring.

The league also honored Calgary Flames left wing Mike Cammalleri and Atlanta Thrashers center Rich Peverly.

Cammalleri was named the "Second Star," notching five goals and an assist in a 2-2 week for the Flames, which included a 3-2 win at San Jose that snapped the Sharks' streak of 31 consecutive home games without a regulation loss.

Claimed on waivers from Nashville on January 10, Peverly earned the "Third Star" award by recording a goal and five assists in a 2-1 week for the Thrashers. He scored the overtime game-winner in a 4-3 victory over Toronto on Friday.
