Red Wings C Zetterberg to miss third straight game

Feb 2, 2009 - 9:44 PM DETROIT (Ticker) -- Still bothered by back spasms, Detroit Red Wings center Henrik Zetterberg will miss Monday's game against the St. Louis Blues.

It will be the third straight contest that Zetterberg will sit out after signing a 12-year, $72 million extension last Wednesday.

However, the reigning Conn Smythe Trophy winner did participate in Monday's morning skate and hopes to return for Wednesday's contest against Phoenix.

"It feels much better," Zetterberg said. "I've been to the chiropractor a few times to loosen my back up. I feel good now. I'm shooting for Wednesday."

The Red Wings also will be without left wing Tomas Holmstrom, who has been bothered by a sore groin.

Detroit is coming off a 4-2 defeat at Washington on Saturday that extended its season-high losing streak to five games.
