Bruins LW Lucic sidelined
Feb 6, 2009 - 3:46 AM OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Boston Bruins left wing Milan Lucic sat out Thursday's 4-3 shootout victory over the Ottawa Senators with a left foot injury. The 20-year-old Lucic was hit in the foot by a shot in the first period of Wednesday's 3-1 triumph over the Philadelphia Flyers but remained in the game. Bruins coach Claude Julien told the Boston Herald that Lucic underwent X-rays at the Wachovia Center that did not reveal any broken bones.
"Everything looked good, but the swelling is there, and sometimes you have to look at it a little deeper," Julien said. "We'll follow up on that when we get home."
In 45 games this season, the 6-4, 220-pound Lucic has recorded 11 goals, 17 assists and 86 penalty minutes. A second-round pick in 2006, the native of Vancouver, British Columbia registered eight tallies, 27 points and 89 penalty minutes in 77 contests as a rookie in 2007-08.
