Islanders C Weight returns in loss to Panthers
Feb 6, 2009 - 3:49 AM SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- New York Islanders center Doug Weight left Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Florida Panthers in the second period with an undisclosed injury but promptly returned.The 38-year-old, who logged 15 minutes, 37 seconds of ice time, has played four games since returning from a leg injury that sidelined him for seven contests.
A native of Detroit, Weight has registered eight goals and 26 assists in 41 games this season.
Weight, who was a second-round pick of the New York Rangers in the 1990 draft, has collected 273 tallies and 1,003 points in 1,172 contests with the Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks and Islanders over his 17-year career.
