RW Ryder out for Bruins with broken nose

Feb 7, 2009 - 6:02 PM BOSTON (Ticker -- The Boston Bruins will be without right wing Michael Ryder for Saturday's contest against the Phidelphia Flyers.

Ryder is sidelined indefinitely after suffering a small fracture in the nose and eye area when he took a high stick to his face during Thursday's 4-3 shootout win in Ottawa.

Doctors haven't ruled out surgery and Ryder will be re-evaluated Monday.

"Ryder is not going today," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "We got some bad news on his situation. It's a small fracture, so he's out indefinitely. It needs to be determined whether he can play with a shield, or how far it needs to be looked into."

Tied for third on the team in goals with 19, Ryder is Boston's fifth-leading scorer with 36 points in 52 games.

"It's a shame," Julien added. "When you say indefinitely you hope it's shorter than longer. There's a fresh fracture and you really can't let him go now."
