Senators RW Neil to miss road trip

Feb 10, 2009 - 6:11 AM OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Ottawa Senators right wing Chris Neil will not travel with the team during its upcoming five-game road trip.

Neil suffered a lacerated calf during Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Buffalo Sabres. On Monday, he was on crutches and was ruled out of Wednesday's return contest against the Sabres.

"It was pretty bad," Neil said. "All the guys were trying to get in there and see it between periods because it was like a science experiment in there. It opened right up, my whole calf, and (the cut) went through the muscle ... Now it's just give it time to heal."

Neil was slashed in the leg at the end of the second session and hurried off the ice and back to the locker room.

The 29-year-old Neil has recorded two goals, four assists and a team-leading 127 penalty minutes in 44 games this season.
