Red Wings D Lebda leaves game

Feb 13, 2009 - 5:00 AM DETROIT (Ticker) -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brett Lebda left Thursday's 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild in the second period with a back injury.

Lebda was checked against the end boards in the offensive zone by Minnesota rookie Cal Clutterbuck and fell to the ice. The 27-year-old Lebda slowly made his way to the bench and immediately went to the locker room.

He did not return to the contest.

"He won't make the trip (to Columbus on Saturday)," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "He got a knee in the back and it's spasming up on him. We'll just have to wait and see."

Lebda, who set up Mikael Samuelsson's first-period goal, has recorded five tallies and eight assists in 48 games this season.
