Red Wings D Meech returns in loss to Blue Jackets

Feb 14, 2009 - 2:57 AM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Derek Meech returned from a six-game absence in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 24-year-old Meech, who was sidelined with a lingering groin injury, recorded two shots on goal in 11 minutes, 1 second of action.

A native of Winnipeg, Meech has registered one goal and three assists in 23 games this season.

Meech, a seventh-round pick in 2002, has collected one tally and seven points in 59 career contests with the Red Wings.
