Stars C Richards injures wrist

Feb 17, 2009 - 4:12 AM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- Dallas Stars center Brad Richards left Monday's 3-2 shootout victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second period with a wrist injury and did not return.

A former Conn Smythe trophy winner, Richards suffered the injury when he was checked into the boards by Columbus rookie Jakub Voracek.

Richards, who netted his 16th goal of the season just 27 seconds into the contest, logged 9 minutes, 39 seconds of ice time.

"He will be re-evaluated tomorrow," Stars coach Dave Tippett said. "Upper body, re-evaluated tomorrow."

The 28-year-old Richards has 32 assists in 54 games this season.
