Blackhawks place RW Sharp, G Khabibulin on IR

Feb 18, 2009 - 11:05 PM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday placed right wing Patrick Sharp and goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin on injured reserve.

Sharp suffered a lower body injury during Saturday's 6-2 victory over the Dallas Stars, while Khabibulin is nursing a nagging groin injury.

The 27-year-old Sharp was injured just 39 seconds into the contest after being on the receiving end of a check by Dallas' Steve Ott. Sharp left the ice and did not put much weight on his left foot while retreating to the dressing room.

He did not return to the contest.

The team leader in goals with 23, Sharp also has recorded 15 assists in 54 games this season.

Khabibulin, who has notched four wins in his last five appearances, is 17-5-5 in 29 contests this season with a 2.37 goals-against average and .924 save percentage.
