Red Wings LW Franzen returns in win over Predators

Feb 19, 2009 - 6:28 AM DETROIT (Ticker) -- After a five game-absence, Detroit Red Wings left wing Johan Franzen returned to the lineup in Wednesday's 6-2 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Franzen, who was sidelined with a bruised hand, scored two power-play goals and notched an assist as the Red Wings snapped a two-game skid.

The 29-year-old had not played since an 8-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on February 7.

"It's always good to get back," Franzen said. "It's painful sitting on the side watching, especially we started to play a lot better lately, over the last 10 games. It's good to get back, and our power play is playing good.

A native of Vetlanda, Sweden, Franzen has recorded 24 goals and 13 assists in 47 games this season.

Selected in the third round in the 2004 draft, Franzen has amassed 73 tallies and 48 assists in 268 games over his four-year career with Detroit.
