Senators captain Alfredsson out 7-10 days
Feb 19, 2009 - 5:26 PM OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson will be sidelined at least one week to recover from a fractured jaw, the team announced Thursday.Alfredsson suffered the injury in the third period of Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche. The right wing was hit in the face with a puck, left the contest and remained in the locker room for several minutes before returning to the bench.
The Senators said that Alfredsson, 36, will miss between seven and 10 days before undergoing an X-ray next week to determine the extent of his recovery.
Ottawa's leading scorer, Alfredsson will be replaced by Chris Kelly on the first line in Thursday's game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Alfredsson has 17 goals and a team-leading 35 assists in 55 games this season.
