FRISCO, Texas (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars on Wednesday signed defenseman Stephane Robidas to a three-year contract extension worth $4.5 million.

Robidas, whose current contract was set to expire at the conclusion of this season, now is signed through the 2009-10 campaign.

Robidas, 29, has eight assists and 45 penalty minutes while registering a rating of plus-six in 27 games with the Stars this season.

"Stephane brings a relentless work ethic to the rink each day and has earned this three-year extension," Stars general manager Doug Armstrong said. "He is a passionate player who is built for the new NHL, and we are happy to have him over the next three-plus seasons."

A veteran of six-plus seasons, Robidas has 18 goals and 56 assists in 359 career games with Dallas, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Montreal Canadiens.
